Experienced educator across
multiple sectors and professions.
With the exception of specific dietetic and nutrition degrees, there is little focus in other health-based degrees to have nutrition education embedded in their learning programmes.
Teaching about the social determinants of health is limited. I deliver teaching which highlights how different techniques better tackle inequalities and how to implement them in practice.
Empowering clinicians to have effective and compassionate conversations about food, diet and health is a core element of my teaching.
I am an experienced educator, across multiple sectors and professions including being a visiting university lecturer. An example of some of the topics I cover include:
- Nutrition in the context of deprivation.
- Nutrition for Medics
- Nutrition in Primary Care
- The basics of health inequalities – what can we be doing differently.
- Diversifying practice – the potential of nutrition and dietetic roles.
- Engaging children and families in nutrition and weight management.
- Sociological influences of eating and illness.
All lectures have an inequalities focus.
“The training was absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much again. You could see how a lot of the things you highlighted blew their minds.
So great to see your passion shine through.”
